Transformative Garden Creations

Restoration of an Overgrown Herb Garden with a Climbing Rose.

This neglected herb garden was overgrown with invasive couch grass and wild geum.
The surviving herbs were gently released from their stranglehold, fed and pruned to encourage new growth.
The rose hadn’t been pruned for several years.

Restoration Pruning of a Mature Magnolia.

This magnolia, after years of chopping with a hedge trimmer had become very congested with crossing branches and dead growth. The water growth was pruned away and then following the rule of the three Ds (Dead Diseased and Damaged) this was removed to allow more oxygen into the centre of the tree. Finally some inward growing older growth was removed leaving a much more open structure with many flower buds still retained for the following Spring flowering.

The Following Spring

Careful pruning resulted in a much more open structure, allowing more oxygen into the centre of the tree. Despite the removal of a lot of plant materials, many flower buds were still retained, ensuring a good show of flowers the following spring.

Restoration of an Overgrown Floribunda Rose Border

These once healthy floribunda roses had been a picture in years past.  A self-seeded Leysesteria Formosa had also invaded the bed leaving one rose, in particular struggling to grow. Removal of old, overcrowded and weak growth left these roses much more likely to thrive next year.

Turfing a Previously Weedy Front Border

This border had become completely overrun with creeping convolvulus despite laying fallow for two years whilst it was spot treated by the owner. Subsequent planting had become infested again, so it was decided to turf the area after thoroughly digging out and hand picking as much of the root as possible. A small border was left at the top and as this was less affected by the convolvulus, it is hoped the new planting will remain free of this very invasive weed.
